Black Snub-nose monkey National Park

Black Snub-nose monkey National Park is located in Tacheng, the “hometown of Reba Art” on the West Ring of Shangri-La Tourism. It is 62 km from Weixi County, 120 km from state capital Shangri-La, and 150 km from Lijiang City. The construction of the park was put forward at the Tourism Industry Development Conference of Yunnan Province on June 22, 2007. From then on, the construction of the national park has begun. On September 22, 2009, the first phase of the construction of the National Park was officially put into operation. The national park is located in the heart of the “Three Parallel Rivers”, covering an area of 334.16 square kilometers. It is one of the “Three Major” National Parks in Diqing Prefecture and is also one of the most distinctive and first developed scenic spots in Weixi County. The tourism resources are very rich: there are seven sub-categories, 30 basic types and more than 70 resource entities, involving geological features, snow and ice waters, rare animals and plants, ethnic customs, multi-religious culture and so on. The main scenic spots in the park include: Xiangguqing Wildlife Rescue Station (watching wild Yunnan golden monkeys in the designated area), Buddhist holy land Dharma Patriarch Cave, Qibie Millennium Ginkgo Tree, Gordon Neolithic Cultural Site, the first stone gate of the Yangtze River, the Duona Pavilion Lisu ethnic Village and so on.

The altitude is 2800-3100 meters, the planned area is 810 hectares, and the wild Yunnan Golden Monkey viewing area is about 60 hectares. This area mainly focus on watching wild Yunnan Golden Monkey, we can also watch a large number of national rare animals and plants in this area. There are national rare first-class plants such as Kingdonia uniflora and Yunnan yew etc; secondary plants such as gold iron lock. There are also many national first-class protected animals: clouded leopard, golden eagle and other secondary protected animals: black bear, monkey and so on.

In this area you can see the national first-class protected rare animal, the golden monkey, which is as famous as the giant panda. It has a most human-like face, the only red-lipped family of primates other than humans, and one of the most beautiful animals in the world. The reason why it so rare is that it is the unique primate in China. Their active area is narrow, limited to the snow lines between the Jinsha River and Lancang River in the Yunling Mountains at an altitude of 2800-4300. The research on Yunnan Golden Monkey is of great significance for people to understand the evolution of human beings and it is regarded by zoologists as one of the most specialized species of animals and has high academic value.

“The cliffs are extremely high, and the ancient temples are connected to the clouds.” The Dharma Patriarch Cave is inlaid on the cliff of the Dharma Mountain. Looking up from the bottom of Dharma Mountain, it just likes a serene sitting Buddha. The Dharma Temple was built in 1151 AD, and it was built in the cave of the ancestral temple.

According to legend, when the Dharma ancestors practiced for ten years in the inner wall of the cave, they realized that they became Buddhas. So far, there is a footprint of the Dharma ancestor "Deng Shicheng", and the left side of the Dharma Mountain is the virgin forest of the Laiyuan Temple and the hustle and bustle. There are many rare medicinal plants and animals. Dharma Zu Shidong is very famous in the Kham region. Every year on the first day of the lunar calendar in April, it is said that it is the Buddha’s Day of the Dharma Masters. The pilgrims who come to the pilgrimage are endless, and even attract overseas pilgrims. The pilgrims gather tens of thousands of people. People, windy meals, bustling, hand-cranked cylinders, refers to rolling beads, turning around the mountains, the scene is spectacular, also known as "turning to the mountain festival."

 The Millennium Ginkgo Tree 

There is a tall, leafy ginkgo tree, 39 meters high and 200 cm in diameter located. According to research: the age of this tree is more than a thousand years, and it is praised by botanists as the "millennium ginkgo tree." According to legend, in search of the reincarnated spiritual child of the living Buddha in his previous life, Tubo divine monks planted one tree in each of the three different areas. Only this tree survived the following year, so there were more living Buddhas reincarnated in this local garden from now on. The tree became a god tree and was worshipped by the local people.

 Qizong God’s Spring 

God’s Spring, about 400 meters away from Qizong village, stands in front of Qizong power station. The water flow in the source of the spring is abundant, stable and clean. The spring is only 150 meters away from the Jinsha River, a must-see place for Weixi tourism and a pilgrimage site for local people.

The Jinsha River was blocked from north to south, folded to the north-east, then split southward and continue to run southward. This is the famous first stone gate of Yangtze River in history. According to historical records: the Yuan Dynasty’s army “defeat Tubo, went out of stone gate, and passed it down”, which shows that the stone gate had an important strategic position in the military at that time. 1300 years ago, Tubo built the world’s first iron bridge here, and the Yuan Dynasty army destroyed the Dali country, then established the Shenchuan government eight hundred years ago.

The Dona Pavilion is located in the Tacheng Town of Weixi Yi Autonomous County, surrounded by mountains and waters and covered by dense pristine forest, and 70 households and nearly 300 people living here, a typical Lisu settlement. The village still retains the original marriage customs, a Shangri-La world where human and nature are in harmony.
